Amazing Winter Hideaways
If you want a place to get away from everything, you’ve found the perfect destination. We are rural and the least populated county in the state of Tennessee – especially in the winter months. Not all of our accommodation vendors are open during the winter months, but some are. Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park offers a continued variety of programs during the winter months. Live music at some of the local restaurants on Friday and Saturday nights will keep you entertained while you enjoy a delicious meal. Country stores carry on at the local pace with some holding card games (pig – the local indigenous card game) and story swapping any day of the week. We hold the Christmas season as something special. We don’t compete with the larger urban areas. We have our own cherished traditions that we continue to enjoy, but you’re welcome to come join in and celebrate our way with old-fashioned country charm and small, uncluttered shops offering quality merchandise and some items you will not find anywhere else. Small uncluttered shops offering quality merchandise and some items you will not find anywhere else. Be sure to stop by the welcome center and learn more. Take a little time to view our Borderlands Civil War Exhibit, located within the welcome center. It showcases our assets of the area and our history during and after the Civil War.
