Dale Hollow Lake is world renowned amongst all genres of boating enthusiasts for trophy fishing and miles of uninterrupted shoreline. However, there is a hidden side to Dale Hollow known only to a few.
The Wolf River
To truly know Dale Hollow, one must venture back in time to the rivers that still course deep beneath her waves and are in every essence the life blood to our beautiful lake. While the lake offers amazing paddle sports opportunities, none compare to the miles of nearly inaccessible wilderness and farmland accessible only by kayak, raft, canoe or paddle board. The Wolf River is one of the three major tributaries to Dale Hollow Lake, flowing through Pickett and Fentress counties before its confluence near the Hwy. 111 bridge and a brief foray into Kentucky.
Rich in history and astounding scenery, Wolf River is a truly wild and beautiful river, ripe for exploration. It is accessible primarily in spring and early summer. Rainfall plays a major role in Wolf River’s ecology, as water flow can fluctuate from a measly 15 CFS in late summer to over 15,000 CFS on snowy winter days and following heavy spring rains.
Wolf River has something to offer all types of paddlers, from peaceful meandering trips to wild rides and world-renowned smallmouth bass fishing.
